　仕事に私情を挟まないことを、美徳と思い込んでる人は多そうです。
　まあ、自分個人だけが仕事に私情を持ち込まないのでしたら、それは立派な心掛けとも言えるでしょう。しかし、それを他人に強要すると、問題は簡単ではなくなります。
　
　何よりもまず、仕事は一人では成り立ちません。大勢の人たちとの関わりで成り立ちます。当然、仕事には人間関係も影響しますから、そこから各自の私情をなくすことは不可能です。
　部下が何か月も前から楽しみにしていたコンサートの日に、急な残業仕事が発生したとします。あなたが上司であれば、この時にどういう裁量を働かせるでしょうか。
　仕事だから諦めろと言う人。そういう人は当然のことながら、部下からの信頼を失います。当座の仕事は乗り切れますが、先々、あなたへの反発心から部下たちの働きが悪くなるでしょう。
　私自身、クラシックコンサートの日に急な残業予定があるからと全員に待機命令をくだされ、チケットを無駄にされた経験があります。もちろんこの日の予定は事前に伝えておき、定時で退社できるようにお願いしていたのですが……。
　ところが結局その日は夜９時になっても肝心の仕事が回って来なくて、帰宅することになりました。しかも、作業が発生してないという理由で残業代を払うかどうかが問題となったため(これは最終的に支払われましたが)、その後、全員で結託して上司を無視する(悪く言えば社内いじめ)へと発展しました。
　大人げないと言ってしまえばそれまでですが、世の中はちょっとしたことで人間関係は変わるものです。
　逆に機転を利かせて、大切な用事や予定のある部下だけを帰したら……。帰った人は恩義を感じて、その後も一生懸命働くでしょう。それで残って仕事をする人たちは大変ですけど、むしろ自分に用事ができた時は帰れるという気持ちが生まれますので安心して働けます。
　
　仕事から人情を切り離すことばかり考えるのは、実は面倒事に巻き込まれたくないという、自分の度量の低さを映す鏡です。こういう人は放っておいても失敗するでしょう。
